Ashleigh Mcivor Wins Gold

23 February 2010 No Comment

The 2010 Winter Olympics is now on its last few days of competition and the remaining challenges for the participating countries will be a tough one. The Winter Olympics is about to end this coming Saturday, February 28, 2010, but the excitement is still on its height.

Canada, the host country, was hoping to be on the top of the list of countries with the most gathered medals but their players are having a hard time winning in most of its competition. They are currently on the number four position with a total of 11 medals. However, no matter what they are still determined to win their remaining games and they have proven it with the win of Ashleigh Mcivor.

Mcivor won the gold medal for the ski cross competition, making her the very first ski-cross winner for the women edition. When she was just a child she already love the sports but since women ski-cross was not yet part of the Winter Olympics, she has not shown her talent towards the sport though she had been joining other competition including the Winter X-Games.

Her passion towards the sport started even when she was just two years old. She even wrote an essay about why ski should be part of the winter games during her college days in University of British Columbia. She never thought that after several years she will set a history becoming the very first winner of the Women’s Ski-Cross on Winter Olympics. Who would have thought that after writing an essay about the ski-cross being in Winter Olympics, Mcivor will become the first winner of it?

Mcivor has brought hope to the other players of the team Canada to win their remaining games. With her win, Canada will now have an additional gold on their list. United States is still on top of the list gathering a total of 26 medals and they are being followed by Germany with 23 medals.
