18 February 2010 No Comment

Many were shocked when a zebra was found wandering around the highway of Atlanta after it has escaped from its trainers whose preparing him for the evening show on the circus. According to the circus spokesperson, the zebra was being attended by its trainers doing some exercise outside their arena when suddenly something has startled him and began acting frightened. His trainers were not able to hold him well that made him broke away from them.

There’s no sufficient evidence yet in what has startled the zebra but the management are already conducting an investigation. The 12-years-old zebra named Lima, was found wandering in downtown Atlanta and near the station of MARTA transit. Many were amuse but most were concern on the zebra especially when it was already running on the highway.

The police and the circus trainers chase Lima for about 40 minutes around the downtown area through the interstate highway. In order for the police to capture him the police had to block the southbound lanes of the Interstate 75. They were able to get hold of Lima when they already surrounded him. His trainers captured him and brought Lima back to the circus.

Although Lima did not cause any danger to anyone, but he has caused heavy traffic on Atlanta highway and the police still consider it as the circus owner’s negligence. They are the one responsible of their animal’s welfare that’s why they need to take care of them.

Lima has brought the circus show outside the arena especially when the police was running around downtown Atlanta. There were 5 to 6 police cars chasing him and a lot of police officers in foot running for him. Though there was no harm done, Lima suffered minor injury on his hooves because of his long run. In April 2008, an injured baby zebra was also found in Atlanta.
