Toni Preckwinkle for Cook County Board President
Toni Preckwinkle will have to beat the incumbent Todd Stronger to become the new President of the Cook County Board. Aside from Todd Stronger she will also have to beat two other candidates these are Terrance O’Brien and Dorothy Brown. However, though the result of the votes has not yet been finalized she already has 50% of votes. It is even much higher compare to the total votes that the other candidates have wherein the incumbent President Todd Stronger finishes last with a 13% of votes.
Preckwinkle started her career as a high school History teacher in Chicagoland or Chicago metropolitan area. Some of the schools that she teaches were the Visitation School, Aquinas, and the Calumet High School. She also became the President of an organization for the disabled adults, which is the Disabled Adult Residential Enterprises (DARE). She has been an active member of different organization in Chicago that leads her to become a part of the Chicago Jobs Council.
She is known not only for her dedication on her job but also for her commitment to her community. She is also the reason of the improvements and changes in Chicago’s 4th Ward, which is located at the South Side. Her success of being a leader made her popular even in some part of the Chicago.
She won the position of being an alderman of the Chicago’s 4th ward after several unsuccessful campaigns. Fortunately, in 1991 she defeated Evans wherein she accumulated one-third of the population’s vote.
According to Preckwinkle, being a Cook County Board President will be another challenge for her but with the help of her supporters and the people of Cook County they will achieve the change that they have been waiting. Her victory is also the victory of the people around her because her determination of changing her community will only be possible with their help.
