Miki Howard: Ain’t Nobody Like Her

25 January 2010 3 Comments

Miki Howard whose real name is Alicia Michelle Howard is widely known for her string of hit singles in the early 90s. Apart from being a great singer, Miki Howard is also an actress with roles in popular movies like Malcolm X, the Spike Lee film, and Poetic Justice alongside Janet Jackson. Some people also do not know that Miki came from a family of musicians. Her mother, Josephine Howard was a one-time member of gospel group The Caravans. Miki’s father, Clay Graham is also a member of Pilgrim Jubilees.

After years out of the limelight, Miki Howard is staging a comeback bannered by her album in 2008 titled Private Collection which contained 10 tracks. Said album was recorded under the Branicka label.

During her time out of the public eye, Miki took the time to spend with her family and to raise her kids. And it’s not surprising that her kids would be proud of their mom, the one who gave us songs like “Ain’t Nobody Like You”, “Ain’t Nuthin’ In The World”, “Come Back To Me Lover”, and “Baby, Be Mine” among a lot of others.

Part of Miki’s comeback includes her appearance this week at BET Networks’ number 1 late night show: The Mo’Nique Show. Along with Miki Howard, Brian White made an appearance at the said show much to the delight of the crowd.

With Miki being back in the game, we can all look forward to more soulful songs from this inspired mother. With Private Collection being her ninth studio album, we are treated to what is to date one of the finest albums created by this talented musician.

Here’s a video of Miki Howard singing “Until You Come back To Me” live.
